Yale Park Refugees

Donation request for refugees from the Yale Park Complex
Donated items can be dropped off at Beth El during regular business hours, Monday through Thursday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and Friday 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.

Thank you so much to all of you who donated, helped sort, and helped deliver the items for our Yale Park refugee family. We have done a lot so far but there is still more we can do! We are still in need of the following items to complete our donation list:

  • Full size box spring
  • Microwave (1 cu. ft. or larger but not too big because it will go on countertop in smaller kitchen)
  • Snow boots for both parents and boy (men’s size 9, women’s size 6, boy’s size 11)
  • Winter jacket for dad (men’s size M)
  • 3-4 Kitchen chairs
  • Mop and bucket
  • Walmart gift card(s) for groceries
  • Underwear for all (men’s size M, women’s size M, boy’s size S)
  • Winter hats for both parents
  • Scarves for dad and boy (age 5)
  • Water dispenser (like https://www.walmart.com/ip/Primo-Top-Loading-Hot-Cold-Water-Dispenser-White/23848191)

We would also appreciate any financial contributions that we could use to purchase these items. To make a cash donation please contact the Beth El Office.

If you have any questions about this project, please contact Chair Tamar Yellin.

Who are the Yale Park Complex Refugees?
An estimated 500 people were displaced after an inspection by the city shut down the Yale Park apartment complex. These residents are refugees from Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, who fled the country’s civil war violence.
