Another Great Summer for our Kids

by Eadie Tsabari, Director of Congregational Learning

What a marvelous school year we had this year! So many memories and so many children filled our building with everything Jewish. We are really proud of all of the wonderful programming, learning and traveling we accomplished in just 10 months. We are grateful to our teachers, parents, clergy, staff and our beloved Amy BILU.

Highlights included High Holy Day youth celebrations and the Hebrew High ROOTS trip to NYC, plus everything Kadima /USY. We also had fun Shul-INs and a frozen Shabbaton.

Along the way, Torah Tots busted out of their room, and BESTT students rocked out with Andy Isaacson, Josh Warshawski and Jaffa Road. And who can forget the Grade 3 Siddur celebration, Grade 8 trip to Chicago, Grade 7 Tichon Transfer, Grade 12 graduation and the awarding of camp scholarships and merit scholarships.

A number of our teens received awards for their outstanding effort:

  • Robert and Ellen Gordman Jewish Teen Leadership Award – Zach Krausman
  • Sokolof Merit Scholarship Award – Emily Kutler
  • Seth Rich “Woodie” Emerging Leader Award – Ethan Finkelstein
  • Jack Molad Ruach Award – Sophia Mavropoulos, Brittney Clignett & Julia Weill
  • Joe Ginsberg Mensch Award – Tristen Newman
  • Helen and Joe Fishel Memorial Award – Hannah Stein A.B. and Freda Gendler Award – Lauren Kirk
  • EMTZA Region Chapter of the Year – BILU USY

And we haven’t even gotten to the best part – Kamp KEF is my favorite week of the entire year. We will have 60 campers and counselors this week at Beth El, rocking out to music of every kind. Campers from Pre-k through Grade 5 will own the building for a week of crazy fun. Stop by and see the next generation of Jewish kids at work. We have so much to look forward to!
